TDL यानी Tally Definition Language — TallyPrime की अपनी programming language, जिससे बिना software बदले invoice format, voucher के fields, reports और menus को आपके business के हिसाब से customise किया जाता है। TallyPrime का अपना interface भी TDL में ही बना है, इसलिए एक TDL file उसमें नई चीज़ जोड़ सकती है या मौजूदा screen को बदल सकती है — Tally का original code छुए बिना।

TDL को आसान भाषा में समझें

मान लीजिए TallyPrime एक तैयार मकान है। TDL वह interior work है जो आप अपनी ज़रूरत के हिसाब से करवाते हैं — दीवार वही रहती है, पर अलमारी, रंग और फर्नीचर आपके हिसाब से। TDL file हटा दें तो TallyPrime फिर से default जैसा दिखने लगता है। यही इसकी सबसे बड़ी खूबी है: customisation अलग रहता है, core software अलग।

MIS reports — salesman-wise sales, ageing, dashboard जो default में नहीं।
Controls — back-dated entry रोकना, user-wise alter/delete रोक, voucher approval।
Integration — website, app या CRM से TallyPrime का data लेना-देना (XML/JSON/ODBC)।

TDL file कैसी होती है?

Unknown source की TDL लगाना

Internet पर मिली free TDL data में गलत value लिख सकती है या TallyPrime crash करा सकती है। TDL सिर्फ़ भरोसेमंद Tally partner/developer से लें और लगाने से पहले backup लें।

Release upgrade के बाद TDL check न करना

नई TallyPrime release में कुछ definitions बदल सकती हैं। Upgrade के बाद Ctrl+Alt+T से status देखें और developer से compatibility confirm करें।
